Dual Monitor (1680x1050 and 1280x1024) - Static image on
left, webcam on right
The simple way to customize your multi-monitor desktop wallpaper! As
desktop sizes increase with multiple monitor systems, the Desktop Wallpaper
Tool can be used to configure the background wallpaper to show any combination of images,
resized,
cropped and tiled to your specification.
The Desktop Wallpaper Tool can be used
in two different modes:
Static Mode - Generate a Desktop Image File
Static mode allows you to generate a image file for your desktop based on
your desktop size (i.e. for dual 1280x1024 monitors placed
side by side you would enter 2560x1024). You then select the images to display
and how you want them to be displayed. The desktop image will be
saved to your computer and can be applied as your Windows background. The crop and
resize tool is especially handy for resizing high resolution images (some
excellent ones can be found
under the Links section)
to fit your non-standard multi-monitor desktops. Click the
examples link for more information on static mode.
Dynamic Mode - Automatic Desktop Updating
Dynamic mode lets you mix and match static images from you hard drive
with continuously downloaded images
grabbed from online webcams. The basic operation is similar to the Static
mode, however, the images are specified by URL's rather than file paths, and
an update rate must be specified (i.e. if the webcam only updates every 5
minutes you would specify a 300 second update rate). This is a great way to
keep your desktop fresh with scenic views, or up to date with traffic
webcams for your commute home. I use it to keep track of the webcams showing
the wind at our local windsurfing spots! Click the
examples link for more information on static mode.
System Requirements:
- Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista
- 128+ MB of RAM (depending on size of desktop)
- Internet connection required for online image download
