Main Program
The Desktop Wallpaper Tool main program is
shown below. To allow the program to continuously update the desktop click the
window
Minimize icon at the top left to send the program to the system tray.
The image configuration file can be saved or reloaded under File - Save
or File - Load. The last used configuration file is automatically
loaded when the program first starts.

Main Program
Desktop Dialog The desktop image is
configured through the Options - Desktop dialog.

Desktop Dialog Desktop Image
Width and Height specify the
size of the desktop image. The Process button generate the
desktop image from the currently acquired images and shows it in the main
window. To apply it to your Windows background click the Apply button.
Make sure your desktop background position is set to
_TILE_ mode in the standard Windows Display Properties. To configure this
setting, right click on the desktop and click properties.
Image The drop down box
selects 1 of 9 possible images for your desktop. The enable image
checkbox will enable this image. Note that when the images are draw on the
desktop they are drawn in sequence from 1 to 9, so the latter images will
overlap the former. The Location
specifies the location of the file to download. This can be a path to a file on your
hard drive or a URL to an image online. To select a file on your hard drive you can
use the Browse button. For online images click the Download button
to acquire the image, or Download All to update all of the enabled
images.
The original box shows the size of the original image and the Show
button which can be used to bring up a new window to see the original
image. The image shown is sized to 640x480 by default, this is only a
display image and is not the actual size.
The modified box shows the size of the modified image and the Show
button which can be used to bring up a new window to see the modified
image. The image shown is sized to 640x480 by default, this is only a
display image and is not the actual size.

Example of Original Image and Modified Image Windows
The X and Y Crop values specify the start of the image to crop
where (0, 0) is the top left of the image.
The Width and Height specify the size of the image to
crop. The X and Y
Resize
values specify the size of the cropped imaged to resize to. The crop
operation takes place before the resizing. The X and Y
Position indicate the location in the desktop image to place the
top left corner of the image.
The Update Rate controls the
frequency of image recording for web based images, for static images use a value
of 0. The units are in seconds so to specify 10 minute intervals,
you would enter 10 * 60 = 600 seconds.
The Process button crops and resizes the image which
can be seen in the Modified image if shown. Auto Update
The Run and Stop
buttons are used to start and stop the countdown timers for downloading new
images from the web. The Run on Startup checkbox can be selected to
enable auto update to begin automatically when the program first starts. |
